Six days after being forced to cancel a scheduled show, country music legend Willie Nelson returned to the stage with a moving performance alongside his son, Lukas Nelson. Despite setbacks caused by severe weather, the 92-year-old icon proved once again that neither age nor adversity could silence the spirit of outlaw country.

The canceled performance, originally set for July 1 in El Reno, Oklahoma, was scrapped due to “unforeseeable circumstances.” Just days earlier, on June 29, the Outlaw Music Festival Tour experienced a powerful storm in Ridgedale, Missouri, prompting an emergency evacuation of the crowd. The extreme weather event damaged several instruments and sound equipment, but Willie’s iconic guitar, Trigger, survived unscathed.

“Trigger is marked SAFE from the damage suffered to other instruments and equipment in the MO storm,” Nelson’s team confirmed in the announcement’s comment section.

Back on Stage in Austin

Repairs and replacements were fast-tracked, allowing the tour to resume just in time for Willie Nelson’s annual 4th of July Picnic in Austin, Texas. On July 5, the tour continued at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas, featuring a powerhouse lineup including Bob Dylan, The Avett Brothers, The Mavericks, and Tami Neilson.
