MrBeast, Adin Ross, and xQc raise over $12 million from the TeamWater charity stream and break Guinness World Record

In a demonstration of how positive of a resource the internet truly can be, streamers MrBeast, Adin Ross, and xQc banded together to raise over $12 million for charity on live stream. The total marked a Guinness World Record for most money ever raised for a charity on an online stream.

MrBeast launched TeamWater in conjunction with fellow content creator Mark Rober, a global campaign with the aim of raising $40 million by August 31. The goal of their efforts is to provide clean water to 2 million people in need across the world. MrBeast’s recent charity stream on August 14 with Adin Ross and xQc was an effort to realize that goal and far surpassed anything the trio could have imagined.

Their initial goal was to raise $5 million, but they re-evaluated their initial target once they saw the amount of donations coming in. xQc tweeted his thoughts about the wild collaboration, which contributed to some tangible, positive change.

“This went way bigger than we anticipated but we got it done. $12,000,000 raised for charity . Major thanks to everyone who showed up, watched, donated, participated, produced etc. Looking forward to seeing someone beat this record “

MrBeast and Mark Rober doing their part

MrBeast and Mark Rober have worked on two prior environmental initiatives as partners prior to TeamWater, which raised an estimated total of roughly $50 million dollars. The projects were referred to as TeamSeas and TeamTrees.

The influencers started TeamTrees, a joint fundraising initiative, in 2019 with the goal of planting 20 million trees. In 2021, MrBeast and Mark Rober led a follow-up initiative called TeamSeas that aimed to remove 30 million pounds of garbage from the world’s beaches, rivers, and seas.

Given the size of their respective platforms, the content creators are largely using social media to drive awareness and funding. In a joint statement, MrBeast and Rober shared their motivation behind their latest endeavor,

“We’ve seen the power of the internet when it rallies behind a cause, from planting millions of trees to removing millions of pounds of trash from the ocean. Now, we’re taking on clean water, because no one should have to live without it.”

Interestingly, the previous Guiness World Record donation tally for a live stream was held by Z Event 2021, a Twitch initiative intended to create a community of French-speaking streamers who could work in conjunction to raise funds and awareness for an array of causes. Their two-day total came in at $11.9 million.
